Uzaki-Chan Wants To Hang Out: Episode 1 – Mini Review

Uzaki-Chan Wants To Hang Out stars a girl who watches a guy do nothing but spend time by himself for the first year of college. She decides he must be lonely and proceeds to invade his personal space and consistently humiliate him because that is what passes for comedy these days. Also she has big boobs. Hope that sounds really funny, because you’ve just heard every joke in the show.

Positives

The girl’s character designs are pretty cute. The guy is very down to earth which makes him relatable. Ok, I guess maybe one of the jokes made me laugh. And there was like one cute animation cut? That’s about it.

Negatives

Uzaki is insufferable. She doesn’t know how to take no for an answer. She constantly puts the guy in awkward situations and then blames him for them. She is either too stupid to realize the consequences of some of her actions, or so malicious that she intentionally puts this poor guy in constant discomfort. Also, ‘her boobs are huge’ is not a joke, it’s an element of character design. I’m a little sad that I have to explain that. Finally, the cat is extremely ugly.

Summary

Watching Uzaki-Chan Wants To Hang Out is like teaching someone how to ride a bike if every time the person you were teaching fell off the bike. Then they managed to both fall on top of you and mercilessly ridicule you for their own mistake. As appealing as it sounds, (which isn’t very appealing) watching good people suffer for no reason is not entertainment. I might try suffering through a bit more of this, but I’d advise you to skip it.

I plan to watch the first episode of every new show that is coming out this season. If you want to know what to watch, and what to stay away from, follow this series.
