Peter Grill and The Philosopher’s Time: Episode 1 – Mini Review

Peter Grill and the philosopher’s time is about the most overpowered guy trying to stay a virgin for his overly naive lover. He fails this one goal in the first episode. Also, every girl in the world wants his babies to pass on their genes. Yes, this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen conception: the animation.

Positives

This was one of the funniest episodes of anime I have ever watched. Not for the reasons the show wanted, but because it is so fundamentally broken. Watch 30 seconds of this and you will see what I mean.

Negatives

The animation can barely be called that. The plot is stupid and silly. The characters are archetypes at best and cardboard cutouts at worst. The ‘running’ animation looks like it was made by aliens who have never seen a human walk let alone run. Peter is boring, flat and nothing he does matters since the universe is determined to put him in compromising situations.

Summary

Peter Grill and The Philosopher’s Time is a masterclass in how to make something so visually jarring yet hilarious at the same time. The plot is so dumb and pointless. I forgot where the characters were halfway into my first viewing. It’s only 11 minutes long and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind the abundance of fan service for the experience alone. I most certainly will be following this train wreck, for research purposes of course.

Crater Rating 1

I plan to watch the first episode of every new show that is coming out this season. If you want to know what to watch, and what to stay away from, follow this series.
