Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Pressure and Stagger an Enemy

It is incredibly important to pressure an enemy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as it will stagger them much faster. Here’s how you pull it off.

Pressuring and staggering enemies is a unique gameplay mechanic to the Final Fantasy 7 remake series. Essentially, it’s a way of knocking down your enemy and making them more vulnerable to your attacks. Fortunately, pressuring and staggering enemies is relatively easy, although there are a few tricks you can use to make it even easier. Below, we explain exactly how to do both.

How to Pressure an Enemy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To pressure an enemy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must use an ability or elemental attack that it is weak to, as well as dodge its abilities and guard against its attacks. This will cause the pressure status to appear beneath it, making it easier to increase their Stagger gauge.

You can find out what abilities and elemental attacks an enemy is weak to by scanning it with your Assess Materia. In doing so, you’ll reveal the quickest way to pressure an enemy, making it easier to repeat in future encounters. This is especially helpful against bosses.

How to Stagger an Enemy in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To stagger an enemy, you increase their Stagger gauge by using a combination of basic attacks as well as elemental attacks and abilities. It is easier to stagger an enemy if you pressure them first, as this will speed up the rate at which you increase the Stagger gauge. Additionally, there are specific abilities, such as Cloud’s Focused Thrust, that will increase the Stagger gauge faster.

Once an enemy is staggered, you will be able to deal additional damage to them for a short period of time. They will also be knocked down, preventing them from fighting back. The Stagger gauge will slowly deplete once you’ve staggered an enemy, and once it’s empty, the enemy will resume fighting. That’s everything you need to know about pressuring and staggering enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
