Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Releasing in 2027, According to Square Enix

The currently unnamed Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 is expected to be released in 2027, according to its developer, Square Enix.

Fans of the original Final Fantasy 7 and newcomers have been pretty much universally loving the remake series so far. So, it’s only natural that they’d be hotly anticipating the third and final installment in the trilogy. Fortunately, Square Enix has revealed when fans can expect to see the final game.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Expected to Release in 2027

According to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s director, Yoshinori Kitase, the third and final installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will be released in 2027. This is because he expects it to have the same three-year development cycle that Rebirth had. This was revealed by Audrey on X, formerly Twitter. It was included in one of many posts that revealed details contained within the Final Fantasy Rebirth Ultimania book that released in Japan yesterday.

Fans can also apparently expect the same level of quality from the third game in the trilogy. We suspect this will be true, as it is being developed by the same team that made the past two games. Of course, we thought both were remarkable. Additionally, it appears as if the script is finished, or at least the majority of it is. Kitase has confirmed that they’re already considering recording voice lines in the near future.

Something “Very Important” Coming in Final Fantasy Remake Part 3

However, perhaps the most interesting part about the post was that Kitase proposed an idea to Tetsuya Nomura about “something very important to include.” Importantly, it is something that “wasn’t in the original game.” While there was no indication of what this could be, Nomura believes it will “make people happy.” With all the radical directions that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth went in, we can only imagine what this could mean.

Of course, it is possible that Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 could drop a little later. For one, it could be delayed, as is known to happen frequently in the gaming industry. Alternatively, if we are to get a DLC for Rebirth, like Remake’s Yuffie chapter, this could add an additional year to development. So, expect it to drop somewhere between 2027 and 2028.
