Rockstar Is “Very Confident” That GTA 6 Will Run at 60FPS On PS5

GTA 6 will apparently run at 60FPS on PlayStation 5, according to a “very confident” developer at Rockstar.

Typically, at launch, players expect most games to run at 60FPS. Unfortunately, such as with Dragon’s Dogma 2, that doesn’t always happen consistently. So, fans of the upcoming and highly-anticipated GTA 6 will be pleased to know that Rockstar is pretty confident with how well-optimized their next big title will be, especially on PlayStation 5.

GTA 6 Will Run at 60FPS On PS5, According to Rockstar Dev

Hailin Si, a senior artist at Rockstar working on GTA 6, recently responded to a fan’s question regarding performance on PS5, claiming that Rockstar is “very confident” that the game will run at 60 FPS. This was first spotted by GTAVI Countdown on X before the reply was deleted by Si.

It’s worth noting that Si’s full comment read, “I don’t know, but we are very confident.” Now, that obviously gives Rockstar a little wiggle room if the game doesn’t hit a consistent 60FPS on PS5. However, it does bode well for the game’s overall performance, especially as Rockstar’s track record for polished games is pretty high.

Of course, it’s also possible that the 60FPS target will be reached post-launch. Nowadays, games tend to run in less than optimal states, only hitting bearable framerates in future patches. Alan Wake 2, for example, introduced a performance mode in a post-launch update to improve the overall framerate.

Will GTA 6 Really Be 60FPS on PS5?

Many have speculated that in order to reach that 60FPS target, especially on the base PS5 model, Rockstar will need to compromise. Additionally, Digital Foundry founder Rich Leadbetter has also claimed that the PS5 Pro, which specs have already been leaked, couldn’t run it at 60FPS. He explained on the latest episode of DF Direct that the PS5 would likely only run the game at 30FPS and that it would be unlikely that the Pro model would run it any better. This is because its CPU increases performance by just 10%.

So, it obviously remains to be seen just how well the PlayStation 5 runs GTA 6. After all, Si’s comments, which have been deleted, could simply be an attempt to positively promote the game. Or, it’s also possible that Rockstar will continue their streak of well-optimized and gorgeous looking games with GTA 6. Do you think GTA 6 will hit a consistent 60FPS on PlayStation 5?
