Manor Lords is full of features that feel like they’d work great in multiplayer or co-op. But can you play it with your friends?
City builder meets Total War is the ultimate elevator pitch for strategy fans, and Manor Lords aims to deliver it. Of course, Total War fans will also be wondering if it has multiplayer. After all, having huge battles against your friends is a key part of that series. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to play Manor Lords with your friends at launch, you may be a little disappointed. However, there is a silver lining.
Does Manor Lords Have Multiplayer or Co-Op?
Manor Lords does not have any multiplayer or co-op features at launch. This means you won’t be able to play against or with your friends. Instead, you’ll fight against an AI-controlled Lord as well as AI-controlled bandits. Manor Lords is a single-player focused experience. However, that doesn’t mean that multiplayer won’t come in the future.
While there is currently no roadmap, the developer, Slavic Magic, has somewhat teased that multiplayer could come in the future. In an FAQ post on the game’s Steam discussion page, when answering whether Manor Lords has multiplayer, the developer said, “The focus is on a refined single-player experience, with no multiplayer or cooperative modes planned at the moment.” This sentiment was also echoed in a Reddit post from years ago in which the developer stated that they want to “polish the single player element first before considering multi.”
Of course, while this does mean that we won’t be seeing multiplayer at launch, and likely for a long time after, it’s not off the cards. As a lot of the changes coming to Manor Lords will be community-driven, if enough players demand multiplayer, it’s possible we’ll see it added. However, it’s also all down to the developer and whether they feel like it’s a worthwhile investment. After all, adding multiplayer to a game like Manor Lords isn’t an easy feat.
