Helldivers 2 players have received two brand new Support Stratagems, the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and the MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Helldivers 2 is getting fairly frequent updates, including bug fixes, balancing patches, and, most importantly, new Stratagems. While players have enjoyed Exosuits and even Recon Vehicles in recent memory, the latest Stratagem update comes in the form of two support weapons. The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun pack a punch and are well worth unlocking.
How to Get and Use the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon Strategem in Helldivers 2
You can unlock the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon from the Engineering Bay section of the Stratagems page for 7,500 Requisition tickets. You must be level 18 or higher to unlock it. Here are its stats:
- Call-In Time – 3 Seconds
- Uses – Unlimited
- Cooldown Time – 480 Seconds
The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon is an energy weapon and, as such, does not require any ammunition. It takes four seconds to charge your shot, so you’ll need to aim it carefully within that time to deal the most amount of damage. However, you’ll only be able to fire a single shot before the gun needs to cool down. It will take 6 seconds for it to cool down before you can use it again. To increase your accuracy with it, you should kneel down.
You can use it to takedown a Bot Dropship, so long as you hit its thruster. Additionally, it will be able to kill a Bile Titan with just two shots to the head, a Charger with just one shot to the head, and an Annihilator Tank with just two shots. You will be able to use it to destroy Bugholds, Fabricators, Spore Spewers, and Illegal Broadcasts. However, it cannot take down a Stratagem Jammer or Detector Tower.
How to Get and Use the MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun Strategem in Helldivers 2
The MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun is known as the MG-206 in Helldivers 2. It can be unlocked from the Patriotic Administration Centre section of the Stratagems menu for 6,000 Requisition tickets. You must be level 12 or higher to unlock it. Here are its stats:
- Call-In Time – 3 Seconds
- Uses – Unlimited
- Cooldown Time – 480 Seconds
The MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun is incredibly powerful and will shred through most small and medium-sized enemies with ease. However, its recoil is intense, making it a hard-to-wield weapon. You will need to kneel or go prone in order to use it effectively and reduce the amount of recoil. It is more powerful than the base Heavy Machine Gun and well worth unlocking.
