Helldivers 2: How to Fix Mic Not Working On PC

If you’ve found that your teammates can’t hear your mic in Helldivers 2, don’t worry; they’re not just ignoring you. Fortunately, it’s easy to fix.

Helldivers 2 has its fair share of issues, but sometimes it’s out of the developer’s control. One example would be with your microphone, as many players have reported that they’ve just stopped working when attempting to spread that sweet democracy. Fortunately, fixing it just requires faffing about in a menu or two, so it won’t take you very long.

How to Fix Mic Not Working in Helldivers 2

Players have two main ways to fix their microphone on PC in Helldivers 2. The first is, while in Helldivers 2, to press the Windows key and search for “Sound Mixer Options” in the search bar. When the options menu opens, scroll down until you find Helldivers 2. Click the drop-down arrow, select “Input,” and then select the mic you want to use. This will then set that microphone input as the default for the game and will hopefully fix the issue.

If that doesn’t work, you can try the following method. Press the Windows key and search for “Change System Sounds.” At the top of the new window, select the Recording tab, and then set the microphone you want to use as the default by clicking it. For example, if you’re using a headset, you’ll want to select your headset as the default microphone. You may also want to disable the other options by right-clicking on them and selecting disable. This will prevent your PC from switching to them without your knowledge. Once you’re done, press OK and head back into the game.

This should hopefully help rectify your microphone issues and get you back to spreading democracy as loudly and proudly as you can. Of course, if the above steps don’t quite do the trick, you can also try restarting Helldivers 2 or even your PC itself. You’d be surprised at how effective turning it off and on again can be. Finally, if none of these steps work, it may be worth trying a different microphone. Try switching to another one in the “Change System Sounds” menu and see if that works. If it does, it might be that your microphone is faulty.
