The Fortnite split-screen mode is currently down, and players can no longer access it. Here’s what you can do about it.
Fortnite has offered a split-screen mode for quite some time, allowing two players to play locally together, like the good old days. It’s a fun mode, especially with a good friend. Unfortunately, it has gone down, meaning players can no longer enjoy the mode at all. Below, we explain exactly why it has gone down and what you can do about it.
How to Fix Fortnite Split-Screen Mode Not Working
Unfortunately, there is no way to fix the Fortnite split-screen mode not working. This is because it has been disabled by Epic Games themselves temporarily. The split-screen mode was removed after update v27.10 was released on November 16 due to an unspecified “issue,” along with the ‘Ready Up’ and ‘Keep Playing Together’ buttons.
However, Epic Games is currently working on a fix, and the mode should return soon. You can follow the Fortnite Status X account (formerly Twitter) to know when the mode has returned. This wasn’t the only issue to affect Fortnite, as the shop countdown timer is 19 hours delayed due to a bug that Epic Games is also addressing.
Please note: We've temporarily disabled Split Screen functionality and the 'Ready Up' and 'Keep Playing Together' buttons due to an issue.

We're investigating a fix for this now and will provide an update when these features have been re-enabled. pic.twitter.com/0cYqvYxveP
However, the new update has brought a lot of positive changes, including a brand-new biome and old-school weapons. Unfortunately, those hoping to test them out in split-screen are out of luck for the time being. These issues are generally ironed out quickly, though, and fans should expect to see the mode returned soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out our Games Hub for more guides like this.
