Fortnite Players Can Now Create & Share Their Own LEGO Islands

It was announced at GDC that players will now be able to create and share their own LEGO Islands in Fortnite.

Fortnite Creative has been a huge part of the game since its inception. This is, in large part, because it allows players to create an endless amount of game modes and creative islands. Of course, LEGO fans have been hoping that something like it would appear in Fortnite, and fortunately, it’s here.

Players Can Now Share Their LEGO Islands in Fortnite

During the 2024 Game Developers’ Conference (GDC), it was announced that players will now be able to create and publish their own Fortnite LEGO Islands through the Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Fortnite Creative. Anyone can do this, much like how anyone can create and share their own Fortnite maps and game modes. Additionally, there are four templates available already, which players can build upon for inspiration.

The only requirement to get your LEGO Island published and shared with the community is that it must have an ESRB rating of E10+ in the US and a PEGI rating of 7 in Europe. Also, by default, all LEGO Islands will use Epic Games’ parental controls and safety features. This is to ensure they’re accessible to players of all ages. If you do decide to create and share your own LEGO Islands and you are a part of the Fortnite Island Creator Program, you can also earn some money.

New LEGO Fortnite Modes Announced

It was also announced at GDC that three new LEGO Islands are being added to LEGO Fortnite. These include LEGO Prop Hunt, LEGO Battle Arena, and LEGO Cat Island Adventure. Each one caters to vastly different playstyles. While we don’t suspect everyone will be hopping onto the Cat Island Adventure map any time soon, they will all nevertheless be accessible to everyone. You can learn more about each map below:

  • LEGO Prop Hunt – This Island builds on popular ‘Prop Hunt’ mechanics to create zany LEGO fun for you and other players within the expanse of a wacky shopping mall!
  • LEGO Battle Arena – This Island allows gamers to become the next Spinjitzu master! You can enroll in special training at the LEGO NINJAGO Dojo with Lloyd and the Masters of Spinjitzu, where you can compete against other trainees, hone your skills, and prove yourself.
  • LEGO Cat Island Adventure – This Island is all about meeting and nurturing your relationship with a friendly cat on an island and spending time together. Players need to complete tasks to keep their cat happy, and they’ll let you know if they are not!

More LEGO Fortnite Modes Are On the Way

Of course, these modes join the two that were added back in February, LEGO Raft Survival and LEGO Obby Fun. Fortunately, they won’t be the last modes added. Several more are planned to be added to Fortnite later on in 2024 and beyond. Kari Vinther Nielsen, Head of Play & Creator Growth at LEGO GAME, spoke about how this was all in an effort to “democratize creativity and putting the power of the LEGO brand into creators’ hands like never before.”

She followed this up by saying, “We want kids and families to be able to enjoy a whole host of fun and engaging play experiences within Fortnite, and the potential this news offers for creators is incredibly exciting – we can’t wait to see what everyone builds and how much the community enjoys the creations.”
