The Quetzalcoatl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Find & Beat Quetzalcoatl

Players will need to find and defeat the Quetzalcoatl in order to complete the Where the Wind Blows quest and fix the Windmill in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Here’s how you do that.

Fixing the Windmill in Where the Wind Blows isn’t particularly easy, especially as you need to take down the ferocious Quetzalcoatl enemy. Of course, to do that, you’ll first need to unlock its mission and then locate it. Fortunately, below, we’ve explained exactly how to do both, as well as how to defeat it.

How to Unlock Quetzalcoatl Fight in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To unlock the Quetzalcoatl fight in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must locate all 6 Lifespring Crystals, or Expedition Intel, in the Grasslands. Once you’ve located them all, you’ll unlock the Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore World Intel Combat Assignment, which is the Quetzalcoatl fight. The 6 Expedition Intel that you’ll need to complete are:

  • Expedition Intel 1: Cragshade Lifespring
  • Expedition Intel 2: Wetlands Lifespring
  • Expedition Intel 3: Morass Lifespring
  • Expedition Intel 4: Grasswastes Lifespring
  • Expedition Intel 5: Mako Pipeline Lifespring
  • Expedition Intel 6: Cavern Lifespring

To complete these, you just need to scan the Lifespring Crystal. You can find these easily by activating the towers scattered around the Grasslands, as doing so will mark the Crystals on your map.

Quetzalcoatl Location in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Quetzalcoatl is located on the West side of the Grasslands, in the large desert area southwest of the Mako Pipeline Maintenance Warehouse, and south of Kalm. You can get to it easily by traveling east from Remnawave Tower. It’s important to note that once you’ve unlocked the Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore quest, Chadley will mark the location of Quetzalcoatl on your map.

Once you reach its location, simply hold down Triangle to summon it. This will start the very challenging fight, which we recommend you are at least level 22 for. You’ll need to defeat it in order to get its Talon, which is necessary to complete the Where the Wind Blows quest.

How to Defeat Quetzalcoatl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To defeat Quetzalcoatl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you will need to use Ice elemental attacks such as the Blizzard Materia and the Shiva summon to build up its Stagger gauge. This is because it is weak to Ice elemental attacks. Then, once it is Staggered, unleash all of your powerful abilities and Ice elemental attacks to deal as much damage as possible.

The Quetzalcoatl has 20,223 HP on normal difficulty and is level 22, making it a challenging foe to beat. It uses a mix of physical and Thunder attacks, so you’ll need to make sure to defend against those. Once you’ve defeated it, you will gain the Quetzalcoatl Talon. If you ever need any more, you can repeat the fight by heading back to the same location.
