Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a whole host of races for players to meet and even play as. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Creating your character at the beginning of any RPG adventure can seem daunting, especially for a game as long as Dragon’s Dogma 2. Choosing your character’s race is one of the first choices you must make when you boot up the game. There are only two races to choose from for your main Arisen character, which should make things a little easier. However, there are lore implications based on your chosen race, so you may wish to choose wisely. Thankfully, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s races below.
All Races in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There are a total of three races in Dragon’s Dogma 2, including Humans, Beastren, and Elves. You may only create, recruit as pawns, and play as the Human or Beastren races. Unfortunately, you cannot play as or recruit Elves. Each race has many customization options, including various body types, skin, hair, and face options. Humans make a welcome return to Dragon’s Dogma 2 and take center stage yet again in the game’s story. In the Human Kingdom of Vermund, a false Arisen supported by the Queen Regent, Disa, is causing political upheaval. Playing as a human slots perfectly into the main quest where you are the true Arisen. Vermund is also the first main city you’ll come across and is a bustling hub of commerce that boasts lush, picturesque grasslands.
The striking Beastren race is playable in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for the first time. This species resembles the beloved Khajit race from The Elder Scrolls and is a perfect blend between a feline and humanoid species. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Beastrens hail from the distant land of Battahl, where the harsh desert climate shapes their resilient culture. Interestingly, Beastren do not revere Arisen as Humans do, creating an interesting conflict in the main questline.
Lastly, Elves appear in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but you can’t play as one or recruit one as a Pawn. Primarily residing in the secluded village of Sacred Arbor, Elves prefer to keep to themselves and mostly speak in Elvish. Thankfully, you can bring along a Pawn that understands Elvish so they can translate as you explore their quaint habitat. Players also have the chance to create humans with particularly pointy ears if they wish to cosplay as an elf in-game!
