Latest Dragon’s Dogma 2 Patch Is Disappointing

The most recent patch for Dragon’s Dogma 2 was not what fans wanted or expected. Many were hoping for specific issues to be addressed in the update, but unfortunately, this was not the case.

Despite receiving extremely positive reviews from critics (see our glowing review here), a vocal portion of the gaming community has complained about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s performance since its release. Capcom has implemented two post-launch patches to the game so far. Neither of which have properly addressed the issues many fans seem to be having. The most recent patch for Dragon’s Dogma 2 does even less to address these concerns, leaving many fans disappointed.

Latest Dragon’s Dogma 2 Patch Ignores Biggest Issues

The most recent Patch 1.060 for Dragon’s Dogma 2 does little to address performance and framerate issues. Instead, the patch focuses on fixing various bugs and solving issues that were getting in the way of quest progression. Here’s a full list of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s changes in Patch 1.060 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam:

  • Fixed issues that prevented progression in some quests.
  • Fixed some terrain that caused characters to get stuck.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes.

This is surely a disappointment to those who were hoping to see performance improvements in the next patch for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Since launch, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has suffered with large frame dips in certain situations, most frequently in big towns and cities and when the action gets too hectic on screen. It has been a big enough issue for players that many posted negative reviews for the game on Steam, leading it to get a “Mixed” status at launch.

Capcom responded by implementing a frame cap of 30 FPS and the ability to toggle a few display options to help boost performance. While a welcome addition for most, these did little to address players’ main concern with the game: its ability to maintain a stable performance throughout. The backlash was so bad that Capcom addressed fan concerns about framerate in a blog post on Steam, promising to “improve performance in the future.” However, the future is here, and the changes are nowhere to be seen. It looks like we’ll need to wait a little longer.
