Does the New Zealand Trick Apply to Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

The New Zealand trick does work for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. As the title is launching at midnight in every region, New Zealand gets first dibs at experiencing it. Therefore, players can change their console region to New Zealand to trick their system into allowing them to play the game earlier. Good news for those wanting to jump into the game as soon as possible.

However, the New Zealand trick is more complicated to implement for those on the PlayStation. In order to do the trick on the console, players will need to both create a New Zealand account and purchase the game on that region’s PlayStation Store, in order to play it earlier than others.

The trick doesn’t always apply to every game, however, as it depends on the type of launch that the studio is committing to. An example of the trick not applying is that of when a game launches at a concurrent time worldwide such as the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1. The reason is that no matter what time you switch the console clock to, the release would be the same worldwide. Many companies do this to ensure that leaks or early footage do not get out before the game officially launches.

However, it looks like players hyped for Assassin’s Creed Mirage are lucky and will be able to play much earlier than they thought.
