Hades 2: How to Get & Use Ash

If you’re struggling to get your hands on Ash in Hades 2, don’t panic. We’ve got you covered on every way to get it and the best uses for it.

Alongside Nectar and Zodiac Sand, Ash is a relatively hard-to-come-by resource. Of course, there are plenty of ways to get it in Hades 2. However, it’ll cost you either Bones or Gold or require you to head down into the Underworld. Fortunately, we’ve listed every way to get Ash so you can farm it effectively and how to use it.

How to Get Ash in Hades 2

There are seven ways to get Ashes in Hades 2. The first and easiest is as a reward for clearing encounters with the Ash symbol (which looks like grey sand) on the door. However, you can also get Ash from the following methods: purchasing it from the Wretched Broker, getting it from Charon’s Well, buying it from Charon’s Shop, purchasing it from a Shrine of Hermes, getting it from NPCs, using an Obol Point Card to get some. We’ve explained all of these methods in the list below:

  • Buying it from the Wretched Broker – You can buy 1 Ash for 10 Bones from the Wretched Broker.
  • Getting it from Charon’s Well – Occasionally, you’ll have the option to pay gold in exchange for Ashes in Charon’s Well. The Gold cost and number of Ashes you get will be completely different each time the option is available.
  • Buying it from Charon’s Shop – You can purchase Ashes from Charon’s Shop for 50 Gold each.
  • Purchasing it from the Shrine of Hermes – After unlocking this, you can occasionally have Ashes delivered for a Gold cost. Of course, you’ll have to complete a number of encounters first or pay extra to have it delivered quicker.
  • Getting it from NPCs – You can occasionally get Ashes as a reward from NPCs by going through the door with the two yellow hands.
  • Using an Obol Point Card – After summoning Charon to the Crossroads, you can spend an Obol Point Card to have him deliver 20 Ashes.

How to Use Ash in Hades 2

Ashes are primarily used to unlock new Arcana Cards in Hades 2. You’ll need to spend Ashes at the Altar of Ashes in the Crossroads in order to get new Arcana Cards for Melinoe to use. Of course, each card has a different Ash cost, but you’ll need a total of 574 Ashes in order to unlock them all.

You’ll also need Ashes for certain Incantations, specifically 6 for Consecration of Ashes, 2 for Fated Intervention, and 1 for Floral Fortune, and other recipes. However, you’re best off saving your Ash for Arcana Cards, as these almost exclusively require Ash in order to be unlocked.
