GTA 6 is reportedly not planning to release in Q1 of 2025, as previously thought. In fact, it may be released much later.
Although GTA 6 is still a long way out, Rockstar Games shared the first gameplay trailer in December 2023. The end of the trailer details a 2025 release date for the next installment in the biggest-selling entertainment property of all time. As time has passed, there have been many rumors surrounding the game’s release date, whether in early 2025 or later. However, new details have come forward that claim the planned launch date of GTA 6 is not being scheduled for Q1 2025 after all.
GTA 6 Is Not Releasing in Q1 2025
GTA 6 is not expected to be released during the Q1 of 2025 but later on in the year. This was initially confirmed by Kotaku, who reported that the Q1 2025 release date was no longer the game’s target. Insider Gaming later confirmed this with their sources, who claim the game was never expected to be released within the first few months of 2025. Instead, it is to be released at a later point within 2025.
According to Insider Gaming’s sources, GTA 6 is still “on schedule”, implying that it is both still on track to launch in 2025, as stated in its announcement trailer, and that there won’t be any potential delays. Additionally, another source claimed that the idea that the game would be delayed is “pure conjecture.” Of course, as game delays are frequent, especially with AAA titles, we can never be too sure what will happen.
Looking at the trends of Rockstar’s previous releases, notably GTA 5, we can glean a possible release window. Rockstar Games has been known to delay its games, but with GTA 6, it may be getting ahead by planning to release the game in Q3 of 2025. GTA 5 was supposed to launch in April 2013 but was delayed until September of the same year. Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in October 2018.
So, GTA 6 could likely see a release in late Q3 2025 to line up with previous titles. However, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. The game is still far from being released, and the development process could change anytime. For now, we have to wait and see what happens down the line.
