A brand-new showcase for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero dropped, revealing a whole host of new features and characters coming to the game.
Bandai Namco released a full 12-minute showcase for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero the upcoming fighting game and next game in the iconic Budokai Tenkaichi series. This showcase revealed a lot of new features, including new characters and mechanics.
New Gameplay & Characters Unveiled in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Showcase
The Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Showcase was led by its producer, Jun Furutani, who showed off an uncut fight between Goku and Vegeta before detailing the new additions to the game. The uncut fight lasted around 3 minutes, ending in an epic climax in which both characters unleashed their ultimate abilities.
Furutani then mentioned how “one of our goals was to preserve the essence of what made the Budokai Tenkaichi series so popular.” This is all in an effort to create “an enjoyable, dynamic 3D-action battle experience that deeply captures the elements of Dragon Ball.” To do this, the game will maintain a lot of what made its predecessors so good, including the Dragon Dash, Impact Action, and counter systems.
However, movement has been tweaked to be as fast as the dash from the previous games. Also, a short dash has been added to allow for lightning-quick dodges. Furthermore, new moves have been added, including Revenge Counter, which lets you attack while being hit, and Super Perception, which lets you counter moves you see coming a mile off. However, you need to build up your Skill Count, another new system added to Sparking! Zero, in order to pull these off.
It’s also worth noting that Sparking! Zero also features vastly improved visuals. From the character models to the explosive effects, players can already see such a huge difference. In fact, many of the effects, including the Ultimate Blast, wouldn’t have been possible on last-gen systems, according to Furutani.
All New Characters Coming to Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
In addition to the aforementioned features, they showed a new trailer featuring several characters coming to the game. These new characters are:
- Super Trunks
- Dyspo
- Kakunsa
- Master Roshi (Max Power)
- Nappa
- Burter
- Toppo
- Jeice
- Super Saiyan Kale (Berserk)
- Super Saiyan Broly (Full Power)
- Hit
Including these characters, there will apparently be over 160 forms to choose from. This will make for an absolutely gigantic roster of playable characters. Of course, more news was teased for the future, although no date for when the next showcase may happen was announced. Are you excited for Sparking! Zero?
