Call of Duty: MW3: What Content Carries Over From MW2?

Call of Duty: MW3 is releasing in a few months, and with numerous skins and camos available in the store, players want to know if these will carry over from Modern Warfare 2.

While there have been plenty of leaks for the new game, such as beta access dates and Zombies, the question about whether purchased content carries over is a major question, as many players have acquired skins and weapon cosmetics throughout the year of MW2. Fortunately, Activision is allowing some content to carry over, so here is everything you can expect to see when you boot up Call of Duty: MW3 for the first time.

What Carries Over to Call of Duty: MW3?

There is good news for players wanting to know what carries over to Call of Duty: MW3 from Modern Warfare 2. Here is everything you can expect to transfer from MW2 to MW3:

  • Weapons and Blueprints
  • Operator Skins
  • Emblems
  • Stickers
  • Calling Cards
  • Loading Screens
  • Vehicle and Equipment Skins

All MW2 weapons, attachments, and blueprints will transfer as long as they have been unlocked. Fortunately, players who purchase Modern Warfare 3 without playing MW2 can still unlock all the weapons from the game by completing the associated weapon challenge.

Will Camos Transfer From Call of Duty: MW2?

Weapons Camos will transfer to Call of Duty: MW3, but you can’t equip MW3 Camos on MW2 guns. The Camo system will be entirely separate and progressing mastery challenges for MW2 weapons will still only allow you to unlock Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion.

Modern Warfare 3 will have its own set of Completionist Camos and these can only be unlocked on Modern Warfare 3 weapons.

What Will Not Carry Over to Call of Duty: MW3?

However, there are caveats; Items will not transfer if they are not available in MW3. For example, if a vehicle is not appearing in MW3, then the earned skins will not carry over. Furthermore, players who do not own MW2, will not have access to the base operators from the game, Plus, any operators from the Modern Warfare 2 battle pass will not be unlockable in MW3. Finally, war tracks will also not be moving to the newest game.

It’s also important to note that any items unlocked in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will not be transferrable back to Modern Warfare 2.
