Dad Kid Stuff Trait Starfield

Starfield: Is the Kid Stuff Trait Worth It?

Kid Stuff is an intriguing, awkwardly named trait that can be selected when creating your character in Starfield.

While, at first, it seems odd that a trait is based on your parents still being alive, as the game progresses, it’s evident that having your wholesome and loving parents is definitely worth it.

What is the Kid Stuff Trait?

In Starfield, the Kid Stuff trait is a special trait you can choose during the character creation process. Players receive a special quest early in the game to visit their parents in Pioneer Tower, located in the Residential District of New Atlantis. This leads to a wholesome exchange where they are excited about your achievements in joining Constellation.

As you progress, the game will prompt you multiple times to check in with your parents. Each visit usually involves a conversation and sometimes even rewards you with a free gift.

Is the Kid Stuff Trait Worth It?

Deciding if the Kid Stuff trait is worth it really depends on how you like to play the game. If you’re the type of player who loves to explore every nook and cranny of the game world or if you get a kick out of solving technical puzzles and using cool gadgets, this trait is a great choice. It gives you free items and wholesome encounters, making the game that little bit brighter.

On the other hand, if you’re more interested in combat or other aspects of gameplay, you might find the Kid Stuff trait less useful. In that case, you might want to consider other traits that better match what you find most fun in the game.

Choosing the Kid Stuff trait in Starfield gives you multiple unique rewards:

  1. Sir Livingstone’s Pistol: The first item you get from your parents is this powerful pistol. It deals roughly 31 damage and has a large magazine and high velocity.
  2. Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit and Helmet: After you finish some main story missions, Noel gives you a note from your parents. Read it, visit your parents, and you’ll receive Gran-Gran’s Spacesuit and Helmet, which have military significance.
  3. Wanderwell Ship: Complete a few more main missions and your dad sends you another note. He won the Wanderwell ship in a poker game and is giving it to you. You can get the ship at any Spaceport from a Ship Services Technician. The Wanderwell is better than the Frontier ship, offering you a free upgrade.
  4. Fun Encounters: The game also has surprise moments where you meet your parents for extra dialogue and experiences.
