Soulslike Open-World Indie Outward 2 Announced For PC & Consoles

Outward 2, the sequel to the challenging open-world RPG survival game Outward, has been announced by developer Nine Dot Studios.

Outward is an indie game developed by Nine Dot Studios that was released way back in 2019. It featured a number of unique mechanics, including an intricate spellcasting system, as well as creative inventory management. While it took a number of inspirations from other games, such as Dark Souls for its challenging combat, its combination of RPG and survival mechanics made it an indie hit, selling over 1.3 million copies. Fortunately, fans who have been long anticipating a sequel need wait no longer, as one has been officially announced.

Outward 2 Coming to PC & Consoles

Outward 2 will be coming to PC (via Steam) and consoles. So far, a release date has not been announced. The game is a direct sequel to the first Outward and improves upon the open-world exploration gameplay, character customization, and combat. Here are all of the major improvements coming in the sequel:

  • There will be countless non-combat encounters, impactful day/night cycles, seasonal weather conditions affecting NPC’s behavior, and new meaningful encounters for a poignant, deeper story.
  • There will be a major overhaul to the character creator, a brand new exercise tree, tasks to unlock improvements, and more.
  • Combat will be improved with better combat responsiveness and the addition of dual-wielding.

You can wishlist Outward 2 on Steam right now to be notified of when future information is announced. Until then, make sure to check out our indie Guide Hub for all the latest indie gaming news.
