Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Previews Features Stunning Gameplay With Limited FPS

Previews are in, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has already captured the hearts of players despite its limited FPS.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 launches on May 21, 2024, and previews are out, so players can see what the game will contain when it launches next month. The first Hellblade was incredible, with stunning graphics, an engaging narrative, and enjoyable combat, and this continues to translate into the second game. However, despite its stunning nature, Xbox players may not have the chance to experience the upcoming game in its full capacity as the FPS has been capped at 30 FPS.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 FPS Settings on Xbox and PC

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be capped at 30 FPS for both Xbox Series X and S, and there will be no performance mode. The first game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade, featured a performance mode for Xbox that allowed the game to reach 60 FPS, so this feels as if it’s a step backward. However, according to the FX director, the FPS limitations will not take away from Hellblade’s immersive story and gameplay, and it will feel “cinematic”. We’ll have to find out how this affects the game when it launches in May.

Luckily, PC players will have the chance to experience Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 at an increased FPS.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Previews Recap

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will feature realistic and brutal combat scenes that take players on a journey to desperately survive. Gamespot’s preview highlights, “Whenever Senua clashes swords with someone, Hellblade 2 makes it feel tense as if life itself is challenging Senua to earn her right to exist in this world.” This is also mentioned in Polygon’s preview, with Oli Welsh stating, “the game’s fight sequences weren’t traditionally animated, but 100% mo-capped.”

As the fighting gameplay has been entirely motion-captured, players can expect fluid movement and true-to-life combat throughout Senua’s travels in Iceland as she tries to find the Vikings that destroyed her home in the original game. Senua will also discover multiple otherworldly creatures when exploring, such as draugr and giants. Regardless of the limited FPS for Xbox players, they can still expect to experience a beautiful game with many new features to discover.
