Previous PS Exclusive Kena: Bridge of Spirits Might Be Coming To Xbox

A new ESRB rating hints that Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which previously launched as a PlayStation-exclusive game, may be coming to Xbox consoles.

When Kena: Bridge of Spirits released back in September 2021, it was available on PC, PS4, and PS5. The game was first revealed during a State of Play presentation. Since then, it has been closely related to the PlayStation brand ever since. Kena acted as a mascot for the PS5 and really showed off what Sony’s latest console could do. However, if the recent rumors are to be believed, Kena: Bridge of Spirits may be finding a new home on Xbox hardware in the near future.

Xbox Version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits Spotted Online

A new ESRB rating has appeared for Kena: Bridge of Spirits, suggesting it will come to the Xbox platform. More specifically, the new rating lists “Xbox Series” under its supposed platforms. Naturally, this hints at a current-gen release of Kena on the Xbox Series X|S. At launch, Kena: Bridge of Spirits was a cross-gen title that was released on both PS4 and PS5 consoles. However, last-gen Xbox One users may miss the boat on this one.

Previously, Kena: Bridge of Spirits was only available on PC via the Epic Games Store until its subsequent Steam release in September 2022. Kena’s continued migration onto other platforms and storefronts seems to corroborate developer Ember Lab’s previous comments on the matter. In 2021, the co-founder and COO of Ember Lab, Josh Grier, referenced the PlayStation and Epic Games Store PC launches of Kena as “timed exclusives.” He said they would “look into other platform releases after launch and a rest.”

Kena Bridge of Spirits Gameplay

It seems that the time has finally come for the supposed Xbox release, which was hinted at by the recent ESRB rating. If true, Xbox users can finally get their hands on one of this generation’s best-looking games. It’s a whimsical, story-driven action-adventure that stars a young spirit guide who frees trapped spirits on her journey toward a mysterious Mountain Shrine. It features jaw-droppingly gorgeous Pixar-inspired graphics and platforming gameplay reminiscent of the genre’s glory days. Hopefully, Xbox players won’t have to wait too long before it drops on their platform. Until then, make sure to head over to our Guide Hub here for more articles like this.
