PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) Is Aiming for 4K 120FPS & 8K 60FPS

PlayStation’s upcoming Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) aims to internally deliver 4K 120 FPS and 8K 60 FPS on the PlayStation 5 Pro.

In recent leaks, PlayStation’s upcoming mid-generation console, the PlayStation 5 Pro, will incorporate PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution, also known as PSSR. This will allow users to experience improved higher resolutions when gaming on the mid-generation console.

What Is Included in the Leaks?

In documents provided to Insider Gaming, PlayStation is seeking to bring 4K 120 FPS and 8K 60FPS with its hardware iteration, PSSR. This is the aim of the PSSR, not the PlayStation 5 Pro, as the console does have limitations. Rather, it is the internal goal of the PSSR for future consoles. PlayStation aims to bring the best experiences to its players; incorporating this new technology into its future consoles will only push them to achieve this goal.

Current console generations still only support up to 30FPS with 4K resolutions. However, PSSR on the PlayStation 5 Pro aims for 4K 60 FPS and 8K 30FPS. It is unknown if the console can be pushed further than this. Either way, this new technology will change future experiences with PlayStation consoles and games in the coming years.
