Persona 3 Reload: New Game + Explained

Fans hoping to play Persona 3 Reload on repeat will be delighted to hear that it has a very robust New Game + mode. Here’s everything that it includes.

Persona 3 Reload is an incredibly long game, clocking in at around 60 hours to beat the main story. Naturally, hardcore fans and JRPG enthusiasts are wondering if they can double or even triple that playtime with a New Game Plus mode. Fortunately, for those looking to spend all of 2024 playing Persona 3 Reload, you’re in luck.

Is There New Game + in Persona 3 Reload?

Yes, Persona 3 Reload does have New Game Plus. It is unlocked after you complete the main campaign and can be accessed anytime afterward. The original versions of Persona 3, including Portable and FES, included New Game +. This mode allows players to jump back into the lengthy adventure of Persona 3 without the need to grind for certain items.

How to Start New Game + in Persona 3 Reload

To start New Game + in Persona 3 Reload, players must beat the main campaign and then create the “Clear Data” save when prompted. Once you’ve created this save, select Load Game from the main menu and then select the Clear Data save. This will start the New Game Plus mode.

It’s important to note that you should not save the Clear Data file over a previous save. If you do, it will mean you can’t go back to your original save at the end of the game, as the Clear Data save will start you from the very beginning of the game. Instead, make sure to save it onto an empty save slot.

Is Persona 3 Reload New Game + Harder?

No, Persona 3 Reload’s New Game Plus mode is not harder. The enemies’ difficulty does not increase in New Game Plus. This means that if you choose to use your most powerful Personas from the start, you’ll easily beat the early portions of the game and likely the endgame, too. However, you can adjust the difficulty at any time, like you can in the base game. This allows you to try out a potentially more challenging difficulty than you did in your first playthrough.
