With the latest edition of the fighting series now available, we have all the information required to unlock characters, such as Havik, in Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1).
The beloved fighting series is back with the newest iteration, Mortal Kombat 1 which features an extensive roster at launch with characters from different corners of the Mortal Kombat universe. Here is how you can unlock every character and Kameo fighter in MK1:
Unlockable Fighters in MK1
The Mk1 roster features 23 characters, including Shang Tsung as a pre-order bonus. Throughout the entire character selection, only one needs to be unlocked and it’s relatively straightforward.
Havik
Known in the Mortal Kombat mythos as a Cleric of Chaos, Havik hails from a world known as the Chaosrealm. The gruesome warrior can utilize his gruesome dismemberment as a tool to fight against his opponent in combat, with no consequence. Havik has the ultimate goal of creating anarchy throughout all the realms, especially in Seido, the realm of Order.
How to Unlock: Players can unlock Havik by completing the story campaign of Mortal Kombat 1; after finishing chapter 15, he will be unlocked.
Unlockable Kameos in MK1
The Kameo system is making its debut in Mortal Kombat 1 and works as an assist system for players during matches. Kameos have different moves that can allow players to experiment with different plays and allow their combos to be extended. There are five Kameos that can be unlocked through progression in the game and details are listed below.
Kung Lao
A member of the White Lotus Society along with Liu Kang, he is the descendent of a famous warrior. Kung Lao looks to follow the same path to glory, brandishing a hat with a razor-sharp brim to help aid him in combat.
How to Unlock: Reach level 5 in your player profile.
Sub-Zero
A member of the Lin Kuei by the name of Bi Han, Sub-Zero is the rival of Scorpion. A master in the arts of cyromancy, he lost his life at the end of the first tournament to Scorpion. The title of Sub-Zero was succeded by his brother, Kuai Liang.
How to Unlock: Reach level 10 in your MK1 player profile.
Scorpion
Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion, was once the founder of the ninja clan Shirai-Ryu. However, after being slain and resurrected as a specter, Scorpion had one goal in mind, to destroy those responsible.
How to Unlock: Reach level 15 in your player profile.
Shujinko
The protagonist of the Mortal Kombat: Deception Konquest mode, Shujinko is a member of the White Lotus Society who was tricked into releasing Onaga, the Dragon King. The martial arts master was trained by many around the realms in order to become a very powerful ally.
How to Unlock: Reach level 20 in your player profile.
Motaro
Shao Khan and Queen Sindel’s loyal guard. Motaro is from a race of centaurs, known for sporting a metal tail that emits laser technology that gives him an edge against his opponents. The creature is a powerhouse that many fear to face in a fight.
How to Unlock: Reach level 25 in your player profile.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available now in early access and is launching on September 19, 2023, for Standard Edition owners. The game is available for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
