LEGO Fortnite: Where to Find Rollers & Collect Shells

Players will need to gather Shells from Rollers in LEGO Fortnite to craft most items. But to do that, they’ll first need to locate them. Here’s what you need to know.

LEGO Fortnite is full of diverse enemy types, but perhaps the most prominent is the starter enemy, the Roller. Despite Rollers being one of the first enemies you encounter, it still offers quite the challenge. However, you’ll need to take them on eventually, as the resources they drop are a necessary component in most recipes. So, how do you find and defeat Rollers to obtain these resources? Luckily, we’ve got you covered, with everything you need to know detailed below.

Where to Find Rollers in LEGO Fortnite

Rollers can be found in each significant biome in LEGO Fortnite. They are one of the most common enemies you’ll encounter. However, they do not have a specific location where they spawn. This means that no matter where you go or where you set up your village, you’ll come face to face with a Roller eventually. Additionally, each biome has its own version of a Roller, such as the Sand Roller in the Dry Valley biome.

Each biome-specific Roller also looks different from one another. Fortunately, there is an easy way to identify them. Simply look for a large, circular rock with either flowers or crystals on top, and you’ve found yourself a Roller. If you’re not looking for them, you can easily trigger them to attack you or your friends by accident, as they tend to be a similar color to their biome.

How to Defeat Rollers in LEGO Fortnite

There are two ways of defeating a Roller. The first is to attack them with a Pickaxe while they recharge after rolling. The second is to block the Roller with your shield, rendering it temporarily vulnerable and hitting it with a sword. The simplest way to kill a Roller is to attack them when they take a break from rolling. The best weapon to use is the Pickaxe as it’s the only weapon capable of cracking the Roller’s shell.

Alternatively, you can use a sword and shield. While a sword is ineffective against a Roller’s shell, it will deal a lot of damage to its stomach when knocked on its back. To knock it on its back, you need to ready your shield when the Roller charges its attack to roll at you. When the Roller knocks into your shield and falls onto its back, you can defeat it more efficiently as it’s in a vulnerable position.

Rollers are designed to hide in the ground of the biome you’re in, that being grass, snow, or sand, and once you come close to them, they’ll pop out of the ground and start attacking you with their roll attack. This can give you an advantage as once you spot the Roller from a distance, you can prepare your way of attack.

However, if you need to run away from a Roller, you can use your dodge to evade it before sprinting as far away as possible. You’ll also need to be prepared for the Roller to either try to follow you or throw rocks at you from a distance. You must be strategic when fleeing and ensure you don’t trigger more Rollers.

How to Collect Shells in LEGO Fortnite

Shells are a valuable resource in LEGO Fortnite; to collect Shells, you must defeat a Roller. Although defeating a Roller may seem nerve-racking, it’s a simple enemy to defeat once you understand its patterns and have the correct arsenal. It should be noted that some crafting items may need different types of Shells, and to obtain them, you’ll need to defeat the different Rollers in each biome.

If you are lucky, you may find the Shells you’re looking for in the many chests found in LEGO Fortnite or even the rare Llamas you’ll come across occasionally. No matter how you come across Shells, keeping a stockpile of them is beneficial, as they are a resource you will need as you progress through LEGO Fortnite.
