Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies Tombstone

How to Use Tombstone in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies

Tombstone is one of the best perks in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies, and it assists the player in a significant way. However, it’s not as self-explanatory to use as other perks.

Perks have been a staple in the Zombies’ mode of Call of Duty for many years, and some of the most popular varieties returned for Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies, such as Juggernog and Speed Cola. However, many players are unsure how to use Tombstone in the new open-world Zombies experience in MW3. In this guide, we go over how to use the perk and how to find your tombstone.

How to Use Tombstone in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies

Tombstone is automatically used when a player completely dies and is pulled out of a Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies match. The perk marks your last death location on your map with a symbol of a gravestone with wings. Tombstone is the only perk in the game that players don’t need to activate manually.

Tombstone places a grave headstone at the location where the player last died, and when they go to retrieve it, it will provide the saved items. However, the only items players can keep from a Tombstone pickup is anything they hold inside their backpacks when they go down. Therefore, items such as equipped armor vests, killstreaks, equipment, and weapons will be lost.

The perk is incredibly vital to survival in MW3 Zombies as the headstone carries over to your next match, meaning you can spawn in and find all your items even after starting in a new lobby.

What Does Tombstone Keep in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies?

Different items that fit directly into your backpack are preserved through Tombstone. Many different items can be kept, and examples of them can be found in the list below:

  • Schematics
    • Any crafting recipe that is stored in the Rucksack is safe. Perk Schematics, Weapon Schematics, and Ammo Mod Blueprints should all be accepted.
  • Crafted Perk Cans
    • Any crafted Perk-A-Cola cans that players store in their backpacks will carry over to the next match should they activate Tombstone, safely preserving them and allowing you to get a one-up in your subsequent infiltration.
  • Aetherium Crystals
    • As players can store Aetherium Crystals within their backpacks, they are carried over through the benefits of Tombstone Soda. Having them stored allows you to upgrade weapons much faster when jumping into a new match.
  • Essence
    • The currency used through Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies is also saved for players who die with Tombstone active. No matter the amount, Tombstone saves that Essence for players to pick up.

Tombstone is easily one of the most useful Perk-A-Colas in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies and should be a priority for players to acquire when starting a match. Now that you know how to use it and what it saves, you can head to our Game Hub for more details on Zombies and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
