The Automaton faction has plenty of unforgivable and hard-hitting enemies in Helldivers 2. Devastators are a type of Automaton that can put up quite a challenge if you’re not too careful. There are three variants of Devastators in Helldivers 2, each bringing a different set of weapons to try and take you down. Fortunately, there are a few easy ways to defeat them.
Helldivers 2: What Are Devastators & Where to Find Them?
Devastators are deadly enemies and a part of the Automaton faction in Helldivers 2. They can be found on Automaton-controlled planets in the red sector of the Western section of the Galactic War map. There are three types of Devastator enemies, and they can randomly spawn while traversing an Automaton-occupied planet and clearing main and optional objectives on the map.
Here are the three Devastator variants:
- Standard – wield cannons
- Heavy – wield machine guns and shield
- Rocket – wield shoulder-mounted rocket launchers
You’ll want to make sure you keep an eye out on which variant you’re up against, as they each require slightly different tactics to take out!
How to Kill Devastators in Helldivers 2
The best way to take out Devastators in Helldivers 2 is to aim for the glowing red weakpoint on the head. Aiming for the head will allow you to deal the most damage possible, as the rest of their body is covered in medium armor. You should equip the best primary weapons for penetrating armor, such as the Breaker, Penetrating Liberator, and Railgun. Alternatively, using explosives and Stratagems should make short work of any Devastator unlucky enough to get in your way.
The Standard Devastators are easy enough to take down with a few well-placed shots to the head. You can also target its waist and arms as the armor is weaker there. Heavy Devastators demand a bit more finesse, as their large shields cover their whole body, except for their head. Shooting a Heavy Devastator’s head will take it down quickly if you have good aim. Alternatively, you can always bring a Railgun to shoot through its shield.
Finally, the Rocket Devastators are the most difficult of the bunch. They pose quite a threat at a distance and can take you down in just a few shots. Aiming directly at their shoulder-mounted rocket launchers should do the trick, as destroying these will disarm them and leave them open for attack. You can always chuck an explosive Stratagem at them if you want to take them out quickly!
