Helldivers shooting Terminids and Chargers in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 Update Makes Chargers & Bile Titans Easier to Kill

Helldivers 2 just got a lot easier with the latest patch, 1.000.102, as Chargers and Bile Titans have been massively nerfed.

If you’ve been finding Helldivers 2 a little difficult, you’re not alone. In fact, there has been a massive outcry at just how punishingly challenging Helldivers 2 can be, especially when 8 Chargers and 5 Bile Titans descend on your position the second you land. Fortunately, Arrowhead Game Studios has listened and fixed the issue in the most recent patch.

Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.102 Nerfs Chargers and Bile Titans

Both the spawn rate and health of Chargers and Bile Titans have been reduced dramatically in Helldivers 2 in patch 1.000.102. This has been in response to fans, who have complained that Chargers and Bile Titans spawn far too frequently and are too difficult to kill, especially in difficulties 7 and higher. The patch will make it so that Chargers can be killed by a single shot with a Recoilless Rifle or EAT-17 to the head. This will stop players being forced to rely on the Chargers leg meta.

It’s important to note that this does not reduce the health of the Charger’s legs. Rather it makes it easier and more viable to target their weak spots. In the Steam update, Arrowhead Game Studios stated that they “have reduced the spawn rate of Chargers and Bile Titans on difficulties 7 and up.” However, this change means that other enemy types will spawn at a far greater frequency. Currently, the specific enemy types have not been confirmed. We suspect it’s likely to be smaller and weaker enemies, such as Scavengers, Warriors, and Hunters.

So, if you found that you were too overwhelmed by Chargers and Bile Titans, that should change now. However, you’ll still need to pack a Recoilless Rifle or EAT-17 in order to take out Chargers. The other notable changes in the patch include:

  • “Electronic Countermeasures” operation modifier has been removed.
  • Fixed missing text on several HUD / UI elements.
  • Fixed several subtitle / VO mismatches in the news videos.
  • Fixed various crashes that occurred mid-gameplay and when deploying to missions.

Make sure to hop back into Helldivers 2 once you’ve installed the patch to see the difference. Also, head on over to our Guide Hub for more articles just like this one.
