Final Fantasy Rebirth: Is it Coming to PS4?

Final Fantasy Rebirth is right around the corner, and fans are eager to know whether or not it will be on PS4 when it is released.

Rebirth is a much-anticipated sequel to the much-beloved Final Fantasy Remake that originally came out on PS4. It is the second game in a planned trilogy of a modern remake of the original Final Fantasy VII that released back in 1997. Despite the previous game being available on the PS4, it may disappoint some fans to find out that Final Fantasy Rebirth will only be on one platform.

Will Final Fantasy Rebirth Be On PS4?

No, Final Fantasy Rebirth will not be coming to PS4, and there are no plans to release it on the platform in the future. It is releasing as a PS5-exclusive game. Though disappointing for PS4 owners, this is most likely so that the developers can take full advantage of the PS5’s power and faster SSD capabilities.

According to an interview with the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, the PS5’s superior SSD “dramatically improves loading speed” and asset generation, resulting in “a beautiful, diverse, and expansive world to explore” in Final Fantasy Rebirth. Achieving the same level of graphical fidelity and seamlessness with the game’s world would not be possible on the PS4 and is only achievable on the PS5. It’s definitely a blow to fans who wanted to continue their journey on Sony’s last-generation hardware.

For those looking to play it elsewhere, you’re also out of luck in that regard. Final Fantasy Rebirth will not launch on PC when it releases, as it is launching on PS5 only. That’s not to say that it won’t be coming out on PC at a later date, but as things currently stand, you will only be able to play it on PS5 when it launches on February 29. That’s all you need to know about whether or not Final Fantasy Rebirth is coming to PS4. For more guides like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
