Dragon’s Dogma 2: Does it Have Multiplayer or Co-Op?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 lets players explore an enormous fantasy world accompanied by their co-op companions. But can you play it online with friends?

Dragon’s Dogma has always been a game about cooperation. While the first game didn’t feature any online co-op mechanics, players were accompanied by AI-controlled companions who helped them defeat the game’s terrifying bosses. This allowed the player to prioritize whatever vocation they desired, even if it was a more supporting role. Fortunately, it seems like the sequel is following suit. However, with all its advancements, players are wondering if it also features online co-op. After all, everything is better with friends.

Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 Have Multiplayer or Co-Op?

No, Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not have any multiplayer or co-op game modes. You cannot play the game with a friend online as it is an entirely single-player experience. This was also the case with the first game, which had no multiplayer or co-op functionality.

Of course, you are accompanied by the aforementioned Pawns, which are AI-controlled companions. These have been massively improved for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and are far more responsive and helpful. They can help with finding quest locations, defeating enemies, and can even give you a high-five. The game’s director, Hideaki Itsuno, said during the Dragon’s Dogma 2 presentation that “with Pawns at your side, it will feel like co-op.”

Of course, for players who prefer online co-op experiences, this will be a little disappointing. However, Dragon’s Dogma has always been a single-player experience, and that isn’t changing with the sequel. It’s also unlikely that multiplayer will be added in the future as DLC or in a free update. It was never added to the original game, even in its expansion, the Dark Arisen. That’s everything you need to know. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
