Starfield is one of the most anticipated games for 2023, and while we know the game is releasing on Xbox, many people are wondering if the game will release on PlayStation.
People are excited about Starfield, and they have good reason to be after the game received its own hour-long premiere following the Xbox Showcase.
Is Starfield Coming to PlayStation?
Unfortunately for PlayStation fans, Starfield will be an Xbox console exclusive, and will not release on PlayStation consoles, including the PlayStation 5.
The game will be released on Xbox Series X|S on September 6, 2023, and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. However, it will not be released on Xbox One consoles.
Although, it’s important to note that the game will also be available on PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.
Will Starfield Ever Come to PlayStation?
Currently, there is little hope that Starfield will ever come to PlayStation.
In 2018, Starfield was announced, which was before Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda Softworks in 2021. Originally, the game was intended to be released on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles. However, following the acquisition, Microsoft decided to make the game an exclusive title for Xbox.
During a 2021 interview, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, stated that Starfield would be exclusive to Xbox “for the foreseeable future.” This means that Microsoft does not currently have plans to release the game on PlayStation.
There are several reasons why Microsoft would want Starfield to be exclusive. Having a major exclusive can drive sales of Xbox consoles, and it’s likely to attract more subscribers to Xbox Game Pass.
Of course, it is always possible that Microsoft could change its mind and release Starfield on PlayStation in the future. However, for now, it seems that the game is likely to remain an Xbox exclusive.
