Hoyoverse has revealed some new information for Honkai: Star Rail and the potential PlayStation release during Gamescom 2023.
A new trailer was showcased featuring an upcoming character: Fu Xuan, the Master Diviner of the Xianzhou Luofu. Players are also wondering when the game would finally come to PlayStation consoles, which was also touched upon during the announcement.
When Does Honkai: Star Rail Release on PlayStation?
There is no current specific release date for the Honkai: Star Rail PlayStation release. However, after an announcement at Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live, players can join the technical test recruitment, on the Hoyoverse website, to be one of the first available players on PlayStation 5.
It was announced previously that Honkai: Star Rail would release on PlayStation 5 in Q4 of 2023, which puts it somewhere between October 2023 and December 2023. Hoyoverse confirmed this window during Summer Game Fest 2023. There is currently no PlayStation 4 version planned.
Thankfully, there is shared cross-progression across all platforms as your save data is tied to your Hoyoverse account. This means you can play on your mobile device and then continue where you left off on your PC. Therefore, whenever the game releases on PlayStation consoles, you won’t need to start over.
What is Honkai: Star Rail?
Honkai: Star Rail is a new free-to-play turn-based role-playing game featuring gacha elements from the masterminds behind Genshin Impact. This highly anticipated science fiction fantasy experience from MiHoYo was officially released on April 26, 2023, after multiple successful closed beta tests. It is the 4th installment in the Honkai series and features many characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and gameplay elements from Genshin Impact.
You take control of a character known as the Trailblazer, who joins the crew members of the Astral Express, a magical train capable of traversing the galaxies, on an epic space adventure. The story takes place after the events of Impact 3rd, but you don’t need to have played through the previous game to understand the narrative in this one. The narrative revolves around you searching for answers and explanations after a mysterious device that grants you the immense power of destruction is implanted inside you.
