Unicorn Overlord features an enormous roster of characters, many of whom players will likely want to romance.
Along your journey in Unicorn Overlord, you can meet and recruit characters to join your team. The more you gather, the more you may wish to be able to romance different party members whom you take a liking to. Of course, while this is a staple in most JRPGs, it isn’t always a guarantee. Fortunately, for those who see love in the air with Unicorn Overlord’s cast of colorful characters, you’re in luck.
Can You Romance Characters in Unicorn Overlord?
Yes, almost every unique character can be romanced in Unicorn Overlord. This includes both male and female characters. However, it’s worth noting that you cannot romance characters straight away. The romance process can’t begin until you unlock the Ring of Maiden a little bit into the game. Once you’ve got this, you can partner with whomever you wish to do so as long as the requirements are met.
Romancing characters doesn’t have any significant impact on the gameplay side of Unicorn Overlord. However, to successfully romance a character, you need to build Rapport with them, which unlocks unique conversations and increases their stats in battle.
How to Romance Characters in Unicorn Overlord
To romance a character in Unicorn Overlord, you must maximize your Rapport with them through combat, gifts, and meals. Then, you can give them the Ring of Maiden during a Rite of Covenant ritual. Once the ritual is complete, you’ll have officially swooned that character and will have essentially married them.
Of course, to get to that point, you’ll need to increase your Rapport, which you can do through various methods. Below is a breakdown of all the ways you can increase your Rapport in Unicorn Overlord:
- Combat: Characters paired together in a unit will earn Rapport no matter what. This method works passively as you play the game.
- Meals: At the Tavern, players can share meals with the designated character, adding Rapport.
- Gifts: If the character you wish to romance is positioned as a Guard, giving them gifts also boosts the Rapport. Some preferred gifts tend to provide more Rapport than others.
You can check your Rapport with each character by heading to the Rapport menu in the Overworld. From there, it’ll show you every character you can build Rapport with, which is subsequently the list of characters Alain can romance.
