XSEED Games has revealed the highly-anticipated release date for Touhou: New World on all platforms.
The American branch of Marvelous! Games, XSEED Games, the studio behind such titles as Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, and the Story Of Seasons franchise has a new title.
The game is a fan-made project in the Touhou universe by a developer studio known as Ankake Spa. XSEED is publishing the title in collaboration with Ankake Spa and looks to deliver a new experience to the Touhou world that fans of the franchise can enjoy.
Touhou: New World is a bullet-hell adventure RPG that tells the story of two playable characters in the world of Gensokyo. It is a world in which both humans and spirits, known as Yokai, live in unison, protected by a magical barrier. However, when the barrier is destroyed both shrine maiden Reimu and magician Marisa are tasked with defending the world of Gensokyo.
In this adventure, players will embark on a mission to defeat hordes of mythical creatures, while immersing themselves in an extensive world. Along the way, they will embark on various side quests, including recovering lost souls, uncovering secret areas, and much more. All in the benefit of aiding players on their quest.
Players have the option to pick a main character and use special moves like spell cards to deal heavy blows to enemies. They can cause great damage using weapons like exorcism sticks and slowing debuffs with perfectly executed guards.
In addition to combat, leveling up unlocks the ability to enhance important aspects such as health and attack strength to help them in battles. Finally, there are various weapons, armor, and accessories available, each with different random abilities.
Touhou: New World is releasing on Nintendo Switch and Steam on July 13, 2023. It is releasing on PlayStation 4/5 on September 12, 2023.
The standard edition will be available digitally for USD$24.99/€24.99/£19.99. A digital deluxe edition will be available exclusively on Steam for USD$34.77/€34.77/£27.81. It includes a digital soundtrack and an artbook. Both the soundtrack and artbook will be purchasable separately.
