2020 has been an unforgettable year. Countless things have gone wrong in the world, but none more prominent than the Covid-19 pandemic. As the world went into lockdown, people turned to video games for a safe haven. This influenced a lot of the games we played this year.
Without further ado, this is The Game Crater’s Top 10 games of 2020.
10. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2
Supervised by Koji Igarashi himself, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 follows its predecessor and brings back the classic 2D Castlevania action combined with endless replay value. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 joins as the least recognized title in the list, but one that could not be left out.
9. Genshin Impact
From being the most successful game to come out of china to making almost 400 million on mobile in two months and be named Google Play Best Game in 2020, you could say Genshin Impact has made a bit of an impact. The free to play RPG offers over 40 hours of story and just got a massive update, adding more content to the game. It is definitely one to check out in the holiday period.
8. Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the perfect example of what a sequel should be. It carries over everything great about the original and improves everything that needed improving. The visuals are still as beautiful as ever, and the soundtrack is exceptional and some of the best in any platformer (or game) you’ll ever play.

7. Valorant
Precise headshots, nerve-wracking bomb plants, and powerful agents distinguish Valorant as one of the best in its class. Valorant is a free to play 5v5 First Person Shooter developed and published by Riot Games.

6. Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition
The Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition includes all the content from the original game but adds enough new content to be classified as its own game. The last entry in the Dragon Quest franchise is a completely stand-alone experience that anyone can pick up.
5. Spiritfarer
Spiritfarer certainly delivered on representing aspects of different games while most assuredly being its own entity and should be considered a low-key masterpiece. If you enjoy games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley, this should be the next game on your list this holiday season.
4. Ghost of Tsushima
In a year where games felt unfinished, Ghost of Tsushima reigns supreme. It focuses on Jin’s journey as he attempts to reclaim his home while being torn internally between being a samurai and being a ‘ghost.’ A beautiful new open-world IP that should drain all of your time in the holidays.

3. The Last of Us Part 2
The Last of Us Part 2‘s visuals, gameplay, voice acting, animations, and presentation, remained at the high bar set by the original, even, at times, surpassing it. The story was controversial, but no one can deny the quality Naughty Dog has created time and time again.

2. Cyberpunk 2077
Despite all of the backlash, nothing could hold us back from Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red’s next big project since the Witcher 3, saw Main Protagonist, V, stuck with a malfunctioned chip in his head containing the legendary rocker turned terrorist, Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves).
