Stellar Blade: Is it Coming to Xbox?

Stellar Blade was initially announced to be coming to Xbox consoles. So, can Xbox fans expect it any time soon?

Stellar Blade is shaping up to be the next big blockbuster. It promises intense action, a rich narrative, gorgeous visuals, and a stellar soundtrack. Fortunately, for PlayStation players, the wait isn’t much longer. However, if you’re an Xbox fan, you may be wondering when you’ll get to play it. Unfortunately, if you were hoping it would be ported to Xbox, you’re out of luck.

Is Stellar Blade Coming to Xbox?

No, Stellar Blade is not coming to Xbox. It is a PlayStation 5 exclusive that is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). There is very little chance that it will ever be ported to the Xbox. However, it is possible that a PC port may be made available in the future.

This may come as a surprise to many. Back when Stellar Blade was still being referred to as Project Eve back in 2019, it was announced for both PlayStation and Xbox. So, it’s understandable that when, during the 2022 State of Play, it was announced that Stellar Blade would be a PlayStation exclusive, many were confused. Fortunately, the developers have explained the reason.

Why Is Stellar Blade Not Coming to Xbox?

In an interview with Famitsu (which was then translated into English by Gematsu), Kim Hyung Tae, the CEO of developer SHIFT UP CEO and director of Stellar Blade, explained that the PlayStation 5 offered “the most optimal gaming experience.” He said, “I felt that I wanted to release a high-quality game on a single platform. And then, when it came time to decide on the platform, I determined that PlayStation 5 would offer the most optimal gaming experience.”

However, apparently, there was a deeper meaning, as Kim Hyung-tae further explained in that same interview that the PlayStation helped shape his “personal values about games.” He explained that he properly got into video games when the PlayStation was released, which is why it holds so much sentimental value and held a “significant role” in his life.

So, there you have it. Not only is Xbox not getting Stellar Blade, but it’s director believes that PlayStation is the better fit for it. That’s everything you need to know about Stellar Blade coming to Xbox. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
