Starfield is approaching quickly, and we have some information about the upcoming available romance options in the game.
In the past, Bethesda has allowed players to form romantic relationships with non-player characters (NPCs) in their games. For instance, in Skyrim, you can wear an ‘Amulet of Mara’ to show you’re open to marriage, and then build a relationship with certain characters.
Similarly, in Fallout 4, you can increase your bond with companions through conversation and actions, leading to potential romance. Those who have enjoyed this in previous games will be excited to hear it has been a confirmed part of the experience in Starfield.
What Are The Romance Options in Starfield?
Starfield allows players to pursue romantic relationships with characters in a more nuanced system than in past games. However, there are only four main companions from the Constellation Starfield faction who are romanceable, with each of these having their own unique missions.
Aside from these four, other crew members can join you as ‘companions’, but it has currently only been confirmed the main four characters offer romantic possibilities.
Relationship Improvements
Player actions and dialogue choices can impact these relationships, and characters may temporarily react negatively to decisions they don’t agree with. This will be an exciting new improvement to relationships so that interactions can have short-term consequences on the relationships and not feel so robotic.
Bethesda aims for complexity and emotional nuance in these relationships, allowing characters to express both love and temporary disagreement. Through this, they have promised that the depth of these relationships will be far greater than in previous games.
Starfield also includes suggestive material in dialogue after sharing a bed with characters. However, nothing explicit will be seen by players.
