Rise of the Ronin: Should You Join the Roshigumi or Choshu at Ejiri Post?

In Rise of the Ronin, players will be given the option of joining either the Roshigumi or Choshu on their way to Kyoto through Eijri Post. Fortunately, it’s not a tough choice to make.

During Chapter 2, players will leave Edo and start their journey to Kyoto, the next major city. However, on the way they’ll need to pass through Ejiri Post, where they’re stopped by a local gang. Fortunately, you can call upon the aid of either the Roshigumi or Choshu in order to get through. However, it’s not immediately clear how either option will affect the outcome of the mission. As Rise of the Ronin has so many choices to make, it can be hard to discern which are important and which will affect the game’s ending.

Should You Join the Roshigumi or Choshu in Rise of the Ronin?

It does not matter whether you join the Roshigumi or Choshu in Rise of the Ronin, as it does not really affect the outcome of the mission. There are only minor differences between each option, but they will still end with the same boss fight regardless. This is not a particularly important choice in Rise of the Ronin, so pick whoever you prefer.

The main differences between these two options are the mission layout and some banter after the boss fight. While you’ll still be able to breeze through the mission regardless of which option you pick, you will go through a different map if you pick Roshigumi over Choshu and vice versa. Neither option is easier or harder than the other, and they’ll both end with the boss fight against Kamezo Iwata and Tsurunosuke Tachiki.

There are some minor differences in dialogue after the boss fight, but nothing that significantly impacts the story. It’s flavor text more than anything, so you don’t need to worry about it. That’s really all there is to it. You still have a fair amount left to do in Chapter 2, so don’t waste too much time focusing on this choice. That’s all you need to know about joining the Roshigumi or Choshu in Rise of the Ronin. For more guides just like this one be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
