No Rest for the Wicked Weapons System Explained

No Rest for the Wicked: Weapons System Explained

There are many weapons in No Rest for the Wicked that will change how you play, but they tend to work a little differently from your more typical ARPG.

Due to its tense and twitchy Soulslike combat, the weapons in No Rest for the Wicked are arguably more important than in other ARPGs such as Diablo or Path of Exile. In those games, there is more of a focus on incremental increases to damage numbers and stats rather than player skill. This isn’t the case in No Rest for the Wicked. You’ll need to think carefully about the type of weapon you choose, as this will significantly affect your play style. There are many things to consider when choosing your weapon, including its type, rarity, durability, and where to find them in the first place. Fortunately, we go through all of that below.

No Rest for the Wicked: How to Get Weapons & Rarity System Explained

In No Rest for the Wicked, you can obtain weapons in several ways, including opening chests, picking them up from defeated enemies, and finding them lying about in the world. Much like other games in the ARPG genre, loot in No Rest for the Wicked is random and RNG-based. This gives players a chance to try out and get a feel for a variety of different weapon types early on in the game. All weapons are split across four rarity types: Common (white), Rare (blue), Cursed (purple), and Unique (gold). Here they are in more detail:

  • Common (white)
    • These are the lowest-tiered and most basic weapons in the game. However, they are also the most customizable
  • Rare (blue)
    • Rare weapons grant you positive enchantments with positive effects
  • Cursed (purple)
    • Cursed weapons come with increased stats and grant positive and negative enchantments. This means it will have both positive and negative effects.
  • Unique (gold)
    • Unique weapons grant powerful unique enchantments specific to that weapon and will be difficult to find

Durability System & How to Repair Weapons

No Rest for the Wicked’s weapons have a durability value that decreases the longer you use them without repairing them. When this value reaches zero, you can no longer equip that weapon before it is repaired. Thankfully, repairing weapons is a fairly simple affair!

To repair weapons in No Rest for the Wicked, you must find and talk to the blacksmith in Sacrament, the Capital of Isola Sacra. After completing his quest, his services will be available to you, including the option to repair and upgrade your gear. You can also repair weapons with the Repair Powder consumable that you can find as a random drop after looting chests and defeating enemies.
