No Rest for the Wicked How to Buy a House

No Rest for the Wicked: How to Buy a House

No Rest for the Wicked includes an eclectic set of features from many games, including the option to buy a house to call your own.

The ability to buy a house in No Rest for the Wicked may come as a surprise to some, as it’s not the first thing you’d expect from a punishingly difficult high-fantasy action roleplaying game. However, this isn’t your typical ARPG, as it blends a variety of beloved and popular genres. Borrowing elements from Stardew Valley and Terraria, No Rest for the Wicked allows you to buy and decorate a house. In addition to being able to put your feet up after a long day’s monster-slaying, you’ll also be able to decorate it Animal Crossing-style and use it as a place to store and upgrade your gear.

No Rest for the Wicked: How to Unlock Houses

To unlock the option to buy any house in No Rest for the Wicked, you must first defeat Falstead Darak and complete the Of Rats and Raiders quest. You will naturally encounter this quest after talking to Winnick in Sacrament City while progressing through the main story. During the quest, you will have to fight Falstead Darak twice in two separate locations: once in the Orban Glade and then a final time in The Black Trench sewers.

As one of No Rest for the Wicked’s early-game bosses, Falstead Darak can pose a challenge if you’re unprepared. We recommend using ranged attacks to deal damage from a distance and faster melee weapons (such as Daggers) so you can more easily evade his heavyset devastating blows. While fighting him in the Orban Glade, he will flee before you get a chance to finish him off. You must then travel to The Black Trench sewers to defeat him for good. Be prepared, though, as the sewers are a dangerous place full of nasty creatures that can easily poison you if you don’t avoid enough of their attacks. After reaching the final location in the sewers and defeating Falstead Darak, you will be able to buy houses in Sacrament.

How to Buy a House in No Rest for the Wicked

Once you have completed the Of Rats and Raiders quest, you will be able to purchase three houses in Sacrament. To buy a house, you need to look for the “House For Sale” icon on your map (indicated by a house symbol), walk up to the sign outside, and spend the designated amount of coin to purchase it. In Early Access, three houses are currently available to purchase in Sacrament in No Rest for the Wicked. Here they are and their prices:

  • The Roost: 20 Silver
  • The Homestead: 25 Silver
  • The Manor: 30 Silver

Although you can purchase all three (if you have the coin!), we recommend going for the Homestead as your first home. This is because it is the closest to Sacrament’s Marketplace and will make it easier to lug your consumables and resources between the various vendors and your stash chest. Once you have bought your house, you can decorate it with an array of furniture, including a bed to sleep in to replenish your health. You can also kit it out with various crafting benches needed to upgrade your gear and some much-needed storage to help free up your inventory space.
