The upcoming Black Panther and Iron Man games are both seemingly confirmed as open-world due to recent job listings.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an upcoming game that features Black Panther and Captain America and will play out similarly to a TV series. Skydance New Media is developing this game, but a new job listing has emerged for another Black Panther game by Electronic Arts.
Black Panther Job Listing
Cliffhanger Games is a new studio under the umbrella of Electronic Arts that is hiring for a new Black Panther game. According to the listing, the new studio is focusing on “blockbuster action-adventure games and pioneering next-generation emergent storytelling beginning with Marvel’s Black Panther.”
The job listing states that the employee “will be instrumental in designing and populating encounters, systems, and gameplay within a dynamic and evolving open world.” This essentially confirms that the game will be open-world. There are also other mentions of designing open-world gameplay throughout the job listing.
Upcoming Iron Man Game
Similar to the Black Panther game, there are countless job listings for EA’s upcoming Iron Man game. In these job listings, Motive Studios, another studio owned by EA, states that they are looking for particular roles to “help oversee the rendering related aspects of an open world action-adventure AAA title.”
Many of the job listings also mention that “open-world experience” is a recommended qualification for the role.
While both of these games will likely still be a few years away, it gives us some indication of what they will look like at an early stage.
