MW3 Zombies Freezer Burn Guide: Where to Find Hellhounds & How to Slow Them

The MW3 Zombies mission, Freezer Burn, requires you to slow down Hellhounds by freezing them. Here is how you do that.

MW3 Zombies has various tiers full of missions for players to complete. One of the Tier 3 missions, Freezer Burn, has players stumped as it requires them to freeze and slow down Hellhounds. Not only are Hellhounds difficult to locate, but freezing them can be tricky, too. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered. Below, we explain exactly where to find Hellhounds in MW3 Zombies, as well as how to slow them down.

Where to Find Hellhounds in MW3 Zombies

Hellhounds can predominantly be found during Raid Weapon Stash and Escort ACV Contracts, as they will spawn and attack you while you’re defending the objective. However, Hellhounds can also spawn randomly in the open world and typically appear in Threat Zone Two.

In order to have the best chance of finding Hellhounds, hover over the contract icons on your map to see which contracts are Raid Weapon Stash and Escort ACV. Once you’ve found Hellhounds, be sure to keep your distance, as they’ll explode when they get near you.

How to Slow Down Hellhounds in MW3 Zombies

To slow down Hellhounds for the Freezer Burn mission in MW3 Zombies, you need to use the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod. This will give your gun a chance to freeze the Hellhound, which in turn will slow it down. Make sure to equip the ammo mod to a weaker gun, such as a pistol, as this will ensure you don’t kill the Hellhound in one hit.

To find the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod, you should look in any of the following places:

  • Aether Caches
  • Infected or Regular Strongholds
  • Contract rewards
  • Elemental Pop machines

As the Cyro Freeze Ammo Mod isn’t guaranteed to freeze an enemy, you might need to use it multiple times to complete the Freezer Burn mission. Fortunately, you only need to freeze 10 Hellhounds and 50 Zombies with it in order to complete the mission. Now that you know how to find and slow down Hellhounds make sure to check out our Games Hub for more MW3 guides.
