Modern Warfare 3 Beta: Release Date, Start Time & How to Get Access

The Modern Warfare 3 Beta, which gives players access to the multiplayer mode of the latest Call of Duty title for free, is right around the corner.

You can already start applying for early access codes while you put the dates of each of the Beta weekends in your calendar. Below, we explain exactly how to get those codes and when you can expect the Beta to start.

Modern Warfare 3 Beta Release Date

There are 2 Modern Warfare 3 Beta weekends taking place during October, each of which is split into two parts: Early Access and Open Beta. The first Beta weekend is exclusive to PlayStation owners, whereas the second is available to players on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox.

Here are the dates for those weekends:

MW3 Beta Weekend 1 (PlayStation exclusive)

  • Early Access Beta
    • Friday, 6 October 2023 – Sunday, 8 October 2023
      • Starts at 10AM PT/1PM ET/6PM BST
  • Open Beta
    • Sunday, 8 October 2023 – Tuesday, 10 October 2023

MW3 Beta Weekend 2 (Available to everyone)

  • Early Access Beta
    • Thursday, 12 October 2023 – Saturday, 14 October 2023
      • Starts at 10AM PT/1PM ET/6PM BST
  • Open Beta
    • Saturday, 14 October 2023 – Monday, 16 October 2023

How to Get Access to the Modern Warfare 3 Beta

To get early access to the first MW3 Beta, you need to pre-order any edition of the game on PS4 or PS5 before Friday, 6 October 2023. However, anyone can get access to the Open Beta by downloading MW3 from the PlayStation store between October 8 and 10.

Similarly, to get early access to the second MW3 Beta, you need to pre-order any edition of the game before Thursday, 12 October 2023. Anyone can access the second Open Beta by downloading MW3 from their preferred virtual storefront between October 14 and 16.

Alternatively, you can get a code via the mobile provider EE if you live in the UK. It is giving away 150,000 codes to fans, and all you need to do to get one is sign up on their website.

There are only 2 Beta weekends for Call of Duty MW3, so once they’ve passed, you’ll need to wait until the game officially launches on Friday, 10 November 2023, in order to play it. However, you can get early access to the MW3 campaign before the game launches.

Modern Warfare 3 Beta File Size

The MW3 Beta file size will be 24.813GB on PS5. This is according to the X, formerly Twitter, user PlayStation Game Size.

The MW2 Beta file size ranged between 15 and 30GB, depending on the platform. So, players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS4 can expect a similar file size for the MW3 Beta.
