Metaphor: ReFantazio Companions, Explained

You’ll be able to deepen your bonds with these companions, and doing so will lead to Archetype awakenings, unlocking new abilities, as well as unique side stories. Of course, it’s worth mentioning that there is absolutely no romance in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Once you’ve bonded enough with your companions, you’ll unlock their side stories. Every follower has their own history that is explored through these quests. It’s up to you which characters you prioritize, as you won’t have enough time to build bonds with them all.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Exploration, Explained

To explore the world of The United Kingdom of Euchronia in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you’ll use the “Gauntlet Runner.” This large armored vehicle can traverse the dangerous wilderness beyond the walls of the Royal Capital and will serve as your base of operations for much of the game. You’ll be able to explore the interior and exterior of the ship while traveling.

You won’t actually get to explore the wilderness between locations, but you will get to explore several cities, including the Royale Capital, countryside towns, and even waterfront cities. Additionally, you’ll get to visit dungeons, where you’ll engage in the game’s unique combat systems.

One location that you’ll visit is Martira, Old Castle Town. This is a sleepy countryside town that’s famous for its local cuisine, where little seemingly goes on. However, surrounding it is a great desert that’s home to a terrifying monster called the “Giant Sandworm.” Players will have to help the residents with this problem, as well as some other internal issues within the town. This is just one location you’ll visit, but every area and town has its own story.

When you’re in a town or city, there will be plenty to do. You’ll be able to visit weapon and armor shops, check out the local Inn, head to the Tavern for a meal, or speak to the local informant to get the latest scoop. Of course, you’ll also be able to visit the Recruitment Centre, where you can pick up side quests and help the local population out.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Side Quests, Explained

Of course, alongside exploration, you’ll also take part in side quests. These generally take the form of requests from the various people you’ll meet on your journey. They’ll ask you to hunt monsters, explore areas, or investigate some mysterious goings on. You’ll earn rewards for completing these, such as rare equipment, and even get the opportunity to take on deadly unique enemies.

Alongside the standard side quests, players will be able to take on bounties from the Recruitment Centre in each town. These are fairly standard missions that just require you to go and clear a group of monsters, but are a great way to earn additional experience and resources. You can also purchase information from each town’s Informant located in the Tavern to get a better idea of what monsters are terrorizing each town.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Life Sim Gameplay, Explained

There are a number of life sim elements in Metaphor: ReFantazio, including the aforementioned meals in the Tavern and bonding with your party members. You’ll also be able to cook, read, and talk with your friends in the Gauntlet Runner, as well as explore areas, including, but not limited to, a War Room, kitchen, and lounge.

Additionally, you’ll be limited to an in-game calendar, with each journey eating into your limited time. You’ll have to play out each stay, and can stay in one location as much as you want, or head off to another city whenever you’re ready. There will be plenty to see and do in each town, with unique encounters, shops, local specialties, and more to uncover.
