Similar to the original Helldivers, Helldivers 2 was built with multiplayer in mind. The game throws overwhelming swarms of alien enemies at you, and you must work together as a team to survive and complete mission objectives. However, if you prefer playing as a lone wolf, you’re almost certainly wondering if you can play solo or if the game will tailor the experience to solo players. Fortunately, you’re in luck, although it’s debatable if you’ll want to jump in alone.
Can I Play Helldivers 2 Solo?
Yes, you can play Helldivers 2 solo, but it has no dedicated single-player campaign mode. Instead, you can attempt to take on the game’s open-ended missions on your own by launching into a game without anyone in your party. To ensure that you play solo, you must change your Matchmaking Privacy settings to “Friends Only.” That way, no one will join your game when you start.
Remember that the difficulty will stay the same, regardless of whether you choose to play solo or with a full squad of four. Therefore, playing solo is a significant ramp-up in difficulty and can be almost impossible for players to complete once you go into Hard mode and beyond.

To play solo in Helldivers 2, you must change your Matchmaking Privacy setting in Helldivers 2 to “Friends Only” before selecting and jumping into a game. Follow these steps to change your Matchmaking Privacy:

- Toggle the Matchmaking Privacy from “Public” to “Friends Only”.
