A frag grenade in MW3

Call of Duty: MW3: What Is a Cooked Grenade?

If you’re confused by what a cooked grenade is in Call of Duty: MW3 but need to know ASAP in order to complete that pesky Daily Challenge, don’t panic. We’ve got you covered.

One of the many Daily Challenges you’ll need to complete in MW3 requires you to use a cooked grenade. Of course, if you haven’t been in the Call of Duty game for long or simply don’t know the difference between a cooked, uncooked, and hardboiled grenade (one of those isn’t real), then you may be confused about how to complete the challenge. Fortunately, that’s where we come in. Below, we explain exactly what a cooked grenade is in MW3 and how to get one.

What Is a Cooked Grenade in MW3?

A cooked grenade in MW3 is a Frag Grenade or Thermobaric Grenade that has had its pin pulled but not been thrown. Essentially, players who hold the lethal grenade button for a few seconds before letting go “cook” the grenade. This means that when it lands, it will explode immediately instead of exploding a few seconds after hitting the enemy.

This prevents your opponent from getting out of the way of the explosion, killing them instantly. However, if you “cook” the grenade for just a second too long, it will explode in your hand, obliterating you. Not exactly an ideal outcome. It’s important to note that you cannot “cook” tactical grenades, such as Stun and Flash grenades.

How to Get a Cooked Grenade in MW3

To get a cooked grenade in Call of Duty: MW3, you simply need to hold down the lethal grenade button for between 1 and 3 seconds and then let go. Frag and Thermobaric grenades have a fuse time of exactly 3 seconds, after which they will explode. So, ideally, you will throw the grenade after 2 seconds to give your enemy the shortest amount of time possible to escape. Your crosshair will flash for each second you hold it, giving you an indication of when to let go.

Of course, to complete a Daily Challenge that requires you to get kills with a cooked grenade in MW3, you can do the following:

  • Locate enemies using a UAV
  • Wear the Demolition Vest so you can equip 2 Frag or Thermobaric grenades
  • Bring the Munitions Box Field Upgrade to restock your grenades
  • Play in game modes such as Demolition or Hardpoint so that players are stuck in a small space

That’s everything you need to know about cooked grenades. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Games Hub.
