An Official Bugsnax Card Game Is Coming & It’s Not April Fools

Bugsnax, the iconic PS5 launch title about capturing moving, sentient food, is getting a tabletop card game version for all to enjoy.

The indie title, developed by Young Horses, quickly became an internet sensation when it launched on the PS5 in 2020. The title presents a quirky and dark charm by having players venture out to capture live, animated versions of various foods. However, the developer behind the game shocked everyone when it revealed a Kickstarter for a new approach to Bugsnax through a tabletop card game.

Bugsnax Card Game Details

Bugsnax is receiving a card game version titled Bugsnax: The Card Game with an expected August 2024 launch date. Those curious to help fund the development of the card game can do so on its Official Kickstarter page. However, it’s important to note that the physical Bugsnax: The Card Game only ships to the United States.

Amazingly, the Kickstarter goal for the game reached its desired goal of US$15,000 in just mere hours. The campaign funding doesn’t end until May 1, 2024. However, it is currently sitting at over US$25,000, and, likely, the financing of the game will only continue to rise as the days go on.

In the tabletop card game, players must consume 6 points worth of Bugsnax to become the Snakmaster General and win the game. Included in the box will be the Standard Deck, which features 28 Trap Cards, 22 Snax Cards, and 4 decks of Grump Decks totaling 32 cards total. Furthermore, an Advanced Deck is also included, which includes the Advanced Snax Deck with 18 cards and the Advanced & Expert Grump Decks with 9 total decks and 76 cards. Giving players various ways to experience the game.

We can expect to see Bugsnax: The Card Game heading into players’ hands as soon as August 2024 unless things are to change.
