Nintendo Is Making a Horror Game & It’s Scarier Than You Think

A mysterious teaser for an upcoming horror game, Emio, has launched online, and it’s surprisingly being made by the family-friendly company Nintendo.

Horror games have always given players an unimaginable thrill when it comes to the jumpscares and scary characters they encounter. Five Nights at Freddy’s, Silent Hill, Outlast, and Resident Evil are some big titles that have taken players to their terrifying frights. However, we’d argue that no one expected Nintendo to join in on the action, let alone make this year’s creepiest teaser.

What Is Nintendo’s Horror Game “Emio”?

Little is known about Nintendo’s mysterious horror game Emio. So far, only a teaser trailer has been released. The teaser features a man in a dark space with a paper bag over his head with a smiley face on it, which occasionally zooms in on his hands and face in a creepy manner. However, there is a hashtag included called “WhoIsEmio.” It should be noted that in Japanese, the title is reportedly named “The Smiling Man.” While this gives us more insight into what this game may be about, we won’t know until more information comes out.

Luckily enough, the rating of this upcoming game has been found for Australia in the teaser. This upcoming horror title will be MA15+ and feature strong themes, violence, and suicide references. It’s safe to say Nintendo’s upcoming title is definitely not their usual family-friendly type. In addition to this teaser, there is also an official Nintendo website players can go to. This, again, features the same smiling man. However, this time, the image glitches and shows the more sinister smiling man at times, which gives us a glimpse into what horror fans are in for.

Will Emio Be On Nintendo Switch 2?

It has not been officially confirmed if Emio will be on the Nintendo Switch 2 or the Nintendo Switch. However, the teaser’s opening features the Nintendo Switch logo, which suggests it will likely be coming to the original console. It is unknown whether this title will be featured in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
