Players must choose one of three starting Descendants at the beginning of The First Descendant. But who is the best one to start with?
At the start of The First Descendant, you get to choose between three characters to play as: Lepic, the grenade-wielding generic male lead, Ajax the huge buff armor-clad tank, and Viessa, the support character with a pep in her step. Of course, making this choice can be a little tricky, especially if you’re not quite sure how each one plays. Fortunately, we have a definitive answer as to who is the best character for players to pick.
Should You Choose Ajax, Viessa, or Lepic in The First Descendant?
You should pick Lepic as your first Descendant in The First Descendant as he is the most balanced of the three characters. Alternatively, we recommend Viessa for those who are playing solo, as she is more capable of taking down waves of enemies alone than the other two characters. Lepic proves to be a very easy-to-learn Descendant that is great as your first pick. He has a good base kit with strong augment mods and is perfect for taking out basic enemies and bosses alike.
Viessa, on the other hand, has a much lower DPS but is great for crowd control. Her ability to slow enemies down while dealing passive AoE damage essentially makes her invulnerable while clearing out huge waves of mobs. This also makes her quite a good support role if you’re playing with friends. Of course, she is more than capable of taking out bosses alone if you choose to. Unfortunately, Ajax isn’t as impressive. He’s exceptionally good at tanking damage, making him a great support character. However, while he is pretty good in the early game, he becomes less effective in harder missions.
Of course, all of the starting Descendants are worth getting, and you’ll be able to unlock them all. Ajax, for example, does have impressive survivability, with high shields that can help tank a lot of damage while your teammates rush in for the kill.
